Talking Street Objects

With the rise of the Internet of Things, we’ve already seen the EVRYTHNG platform provide a way to link stuff with digital information through unique identification codes. Now the Hello Lamp Post! project in Bristol, UK is using existing codes on public objects to make them more interactive and drive tourism.

The brainchild of creative agency PAN, the scheme has been picked as the winner of Watershed’s Bristol City Council-funded Playable City competition, which aims to showcase creative use of technology in the region. The project utilizes the fact that objects such as lamp posts, bollards, post boxes and bus stops are already marked with unique codes. Players will be able to text the code to a special phone number in order to start a conversation with it. Messages use artificial intelligence technology to simulate human speech, while also revealing stories about the city.

The project is a fun way to make public space more interactive and friendly, while also attracting visitors by helping them learn about its history. Could this scheme work in your part of the world?

Ray Ban Ambermatic Lens App Installation

This is a very cool way to get people thinking about the product and a great way to launch it before the product is back in stores.

From Digital Buzz Blog

Just about everyone is adding a custom filter to their apps and campaigns these days, so it’s cool to see RayBan’s take on it, and bringing it out of just the digital world and into the physical, to showcase their retro Ambermatic Lens which is making a comeback.
Ray Ban, created an app that let you shoot photos, send them straight to their flagship store where a killer installation was setup, featuring a TV screen that would showcase your photo, and a camera that would shoot through an actual Ambermatic Lens, capture the image, and then post it back to you to share.

And sure, while it might seem overkill for a process like this, it’s a pretty cool way to get people talking and interactive with the Ambermatic Lens.

Orange: The Instagallery Campaign

There’s almost been an Insta-everything over the last year, but this might still be a first, with Orange in France launching a new hi-speed network and creating ‘Instagallery’ to promote it. Instagallery which targeted influential instagramers, pulled their photos into staged galleries half a world away in Los Angeles, with short films made of awkwardly scripted comments being made on their photos from people walking through the galleries. Different but cool. What do you guys think?

CinePrint - An Interactive Video Print Ad via iPad

To promote the Lexus ES, the company came out with what may be the most revolutionary print ad ever   conceived and executed in the history of our beautiful world of advertising. The print ad allows readers to watch the Lexus ES print ad change colours, ambiance, and settings. Readers will also see the outline of the car and the dashboard lighting up.

Just like the simplicity of this. Even though it may be more hassle than it's worth to set up…still a nice interaction with an ad.
